Among the various improvements coming to WhatsApp soon are Multi-Device Support, Disappearing Mode, and View Once. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed these functionalities will be available on WhatsApp. These aren’t just rumors or leaks. A number of these features have been rumored for some time now for the Facebook-owned messaging app.
Zuckerberg told wabetainfo that WhatsApp was set up to provide end-to-end encryption for the first time, but the company plans to push out disappearing message capabilities worldwide.
There is currently a disappearing message functionality available in WhatsApp, however, Mark mentions a new disappearing-mode feature that disables messages from disappearing from all conversation threads, making WhatsApp ephemeral.
We are in the process of releasing another WhatsApp feature, called View Once. The capability of disappearing messages is comparable to this feature. The message will disappear once it is seen by the recipient if you enable the mode.
The media portal reported that Mark Zukerberg said that it has been a great technical challenge getting messages and information to sync between devices even when the phone battery dies; however, they have solved it and are excited to start releasing it soon.
A recent update to WhatsApp urging users to check their privacy settings had raised privacy concerns among many users. The Facebook-owned messaging service reiterated in the wake of backlash that users who refuse to accept the privacy terms and conditions will not be restricted from using certain features.
